It´s easy to forget.

Sometimes its all too easy to forget what an amazing country Argentina is. Here at MiniHostels we are located in Buenos Aires. And while we get the chance to visit hostels all over South America sometimes we forget what an amazing and geographically diverse country we live in! We have Bariloche and the mountains for skiing, Patagonia to the south and the falls of Iguazu to the north. And thats just the tip of the iceburg! If you´re getting bogged down by too many hours logged into the city, then travel with MiniHostels and reunite yourself with a seriously cool country!

Its Bariloche fever here at MiniHostels. Simply put. We´re all going and we´re all going to have a blast. Bariloche boasts some of the best South American skiing that there is and we´re certain that we´ll have some great stories upon our snowy return.

This is a cool hostel in Bariloche that has posted some of thier own Bariloche pics. Check it out: http://www.rucahueney.blogspot.com/

Tip!

Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires
So you wake up, look out your Buenos Aires window, and see THIS. Its basically disgusting outside and you have no idea what to make of your (now potentially ruined) day. Needless to say a jog through the Palmero parks is out of the question... so now what?

Here are a few www.minihostels.com tips on how to make the most out of a bummer day by enjoying some indoor activities in Buenos Aires. I mean hey, we are all about travel and we know that you don´t always get handed the best of weather.

1)Brush up on some Spanish - thats right. You´re stuck indoors, you´re in a Spanish speaking country, so get going! Our favorite spanish tip is the Clarin on Tuesdays. You can go to any kiosko and for 3 pesos buy the daily Clarin, and dual language novel. It is a small novela from name authors with one page in Spanish and the exact corresponding page in English. Its a great way to spend a few hours.

2)Museum - Hello! Buenos Aires is all about culture so go check out Malba or another one of Buenos Aires´great museums.

3)Movie - Kind of a cop-out but any weary traveler can use some down time in the theatre. Films and times are listed in all newspapers, online and the numbers to theatres are in the Guia´T as well.

4)Gym - You´re in BA, you´ve noticed one thing. Not too much extra fat walking around. So join the club and hit the gym. Its a great way to be active and stay dry. Almost all gyms offer day passes for reasonable prices.

5)Gormet Rainy Day - Go hit up a cool eatery in Palermo Soho or pìck a new place to eat. You´re in Buenos Aires, you´ll never hit all of them so go give it a try.

6)Shopping - You´re welcome ladies. Go shopping in Abasto, Alto Palermo or Galleria Pacifica just to name a few. These large shopping malls have it all: clothes, food, salons, etc. Some even have theatres.

Last but not least go check out www.minihostels.com for more travel info and become a member NOW!

Whale Season!

Look out, its whale season down in Puerto Madryn. The whales begin to migrate and tourists from all over the world head down to Puerto Madryn to see them swimming in the Patagonian waters off the coast of Argentina. Some people stay for days and come back raving about the amazing time that they spent seeing these magestic creatures. While the season just begun, it goes on through December and tours even continue to run into January. It has been rumored the best time to go is in November, although, its been heard from friends just visted, that they couldn´t get enough of the close contact to these whales. They stayed for FIVE DAYS!!! Yowza!
When you go, check out http://www.minihostels.com for the coolest places to stay.

Some Salta News...

This guy might not look like anything special, but he´s was the minister of public works for the Tren de las Nubes in Salta in 1948 when the train opened. Most of our seasoned travelers know (and certainly anyone heading to the area has read) that this train, The Train of the Clouds is one of Salta´s greatest tourist attractions. It leaves the Salta Train Station and takes tourists on a train ride on the third highest railroad in the world. Up into the clouds if you will. Tourists taking the journey ride through Salta´s amazing country side up, up and up through one of the greatest feats of engineering of our century. At its highest, tourists are 4,200 meters above sea level! Enjoying an array of scenes and some seriously cool memories the entire way. Its basically amazing!

But here´s the kicker... the train has recently been closed. For years! And it just opened. TWO DAYS AGO! While it was running, it had seen close to 300,000 tourists a year and is expected to see more since its reopen.

So don´t waste anytime. On a travel weekend, or during your trip through South America the Tren de las Nubes is a must see!

Remeber, if you´re staying in Salta check out www.minihostels.com for the best deals on hostel stays in South America. Become a member, and save even more!
